PUMPKIN PIE (TORTA TAL-QARGHA HAMRA). It's a dear favorite of many and a savory meal that is full of flavor. The recipe was taken from www.amaltesemouthful.com by Marlene Zammit. If you don't have time to make the pastry sheets, store bought frozen pastry sheets will do. We all have our own variations and this recipe can be tweaked and is a helpful starting point for those who never tried it or made it. For instance tuna and raisins can be optional. But once you have made it, it will become your favorite! The pumpkin is not the typical pumpkin we use for Jack -O-Lanterns but rather it has a green skin and pale orange flesh. See photo.
The Maltese Center is open Friday evenings and all day Sunday with limited capacity outdoors. Please be reminded to wear a face mask that covers your nose and mouth at all times except when consuming food or drinks, stay safely socially distanced, and sanitize hands frequently.
If you have travelled please do not visit until 14 days after and symptom free. With everyone's cooperation we have been thus far successful at keeping our members and visitors safe. We ask member's to stay up to date with their dues and for the Maltese community to consider joining. Your dues not only entitle you to membership but helps the Maltese Center with their building operating budget which will help allow it to continue to exist for generations to come representing Maltese identity in the northeast.
