Warren Galea is a guitarist, composer, and producer from the island of Malta, currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. Recently graduated from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Warren has performed in the Malta Jazz Festival and in New York venues such as The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, and Union Square Park. His music layers modern Jazz harmonies on top of grooves rooted in genres such as Hip Hop and Drum and Bass. Like a common thread across the textures evoked by the trio within different compositions runs a melodic lyricism wherein the guitar is always the singer. He is joined by veteran bass player Andy McKee, who has toured with Philly Joe Jones, Elvin Jones and Michel Petrucciani, among many others, and drummer Henry Mermer. The trio will present a set of original compositions as well as familiar Jazz standards.
