L-Imnarja? What does that mean?
The Harvest Festival of L-Imnarja. This is one of the oldest celebrated feasts on the island dating back to the Knights of St John and takes place in Malta on the 29th of June. The name comes from the Latin word ‘luminare’ which means to light up, and this is reflected in the way that people celebrate by burning bonfires and candles in the name of two of Catholicism’s most revered saints- St Peter and St Paul.
